WPW On-Field: Oakland A’s

IMG_5251

There’s a certain swagger in your step when you’re cruising towards back-to-back 40 bomb seasons in Oakland.  You might be surprised to learn that this is a swagger that Oakland has never seen before.

Khris Davis sits at 28 on July 26, homering every 12.9 ABs.  That puts him right on pace for about 40, and if he can do it, he’ll be the first Athletic ever to put up back-to-back 40 bomb seasons.  McGwire didn’t do it, Canseco didn’t do it, Reggie didn’t do it… but KHRUSH just might.

We profiled Khrush recently, and we know that he swings a Rawlings KD18 Birch named for him.  Its a 34 inch, 31.5 oz piece.  You can shop Rawlings Birch here.

Also worth mentioning, the MLB official Eye-Black, which you can get just like Khrush here.

Davis takes BP in a version of the Kobe XI that we couldn’t find on the web.  Let us know if you see it.

Check out the rest of Davis’ gear here.

Rajai giving the two thumbs up (kinda) to the Franklin 4th of July BG’s, which are available in four styles including Rajai’s CFX Pro at this link.

He’s also wearing Nike’s new Hyperforce sunglasses, with “Nike Field Tint,” which, according to Nike, enhances ability to track and intercept objects in bright and shifting light.  Editor’s Note: Nike sent me a pair of these and I’m excited to get them out on the field to see how they perform.

More batting glove swag from the A’s—these Nike MVP Elites are unbelievably sexy.

IMG_5388

These also stand out from the crowd, the Vapor Elite style from Nike, which is only available in black/white and navy/white on Eastbay.

IMG_5381

If you saw our post on Tuesday, you saw these, but they’re worth another look.  Brand new UA Yard BG’s (still unreleased) with a USA flair.  So sick.

Which pair of BG’s do you like best?

IMG_5408

Sonny Gray’s days in Oakland may be numbered, and I gotta say from a baseball fan’s perspective, I don’t want to see Sonny Gray’s prime wasted on a bad team.  I really don’t even care where he goes, but he should be pitching for a contender because he’s an ace.  He likes the Rawlings basket web (a la Jeter), and although he’s gaming a black one, this camel version is a beaut.

IMG_5250

Adam Rosales did a nice job with this Wilson 1786 custom.  Such a nice job that we created it for you on the Wilson custom builder.

Again, we mentioned these on Tuesday, but here’s our first look at regular season action for the Trout 4, worn by Yonder Alonso.  You can shop available colors here.

Crazy-looking snakeskin catcher’s training mitt from 44 Pro, which they do sell (just not in a snakeskin).

IMG_5122

In case you didn’t believe me that it was a training mitt…

IMG_5369

Professional switch hitter Jed Lowrie still swinging pink.  He’s been swinging Tucci lately, but not the pink one.  This is probably just for BP.  He does put a white Lizard Skin on his gamer, too.  Shop Lizard Skin grips here.

IMG_5279

Whatever is covering the Rawlings logo is pretty gross, but this looks like a tremendous first base mitt for rising star Ryon Healy.  This is a PRODCT pattern which you can get in black/tan at this link.

The A’s were in town playing the Mets and I just had to mention this… Former A, Yoenis Cespedes’ signature on his Chandler YC71.3 is one of the prettiest I’ve seen.  The 4040v3 turfs are also outrageously fresh.

Thanks to @geminikeez for continuing to give us an amazing inside look at the on-field gear.
