WPW On-Field: Rangers vs Mets (Amed Rosario, Beltre, Gallo)

IMG_8225

WPW on-field with an awkward Interleague matchup of the Mets and the Rangers, starting with the Mizuno leather of Mets’ top prospect SS Amed Rosario (who we recently featured in the Futures Game).

IMG_8204

Rosario’s gamer is a GMP600, available in Mizuno’s beautiful chestnut color at this link.

WPW photographer @geminikeez doesn’t even stop at the outside of the glove anymore.  Thanks to Keez we get a look at the Shika Palm Lining that makes Mizuno gloves feel so incredibly soft.

Rosario has written a bible verse on the wrist of his Mizuno, which refers to Phillipians 4:13: “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”  Rosario is also rocking the New Balance 4040v4 ASG and Stance socks (which are unavailable).

Here’s an Asics glove that probably stuck around in the Texas clubhouse despite Asics athlete Yu Darvish’s trade to the Dodgers.  Lots of perplexed comments on our recent Instagram post featuring Yu Darvish’s Asics glove:

@darvishsefat11’s new @asics leather is ????? @supremegloves #la #dodgers #yu #asics #baseballswag

A post shared by What Pros Wear App iOS+Android (@whatproswear) on

Asics is actually a popular choice in Darvish’s home country Japan, and you can try to hunt down some of these gloves on eBay.

More glove swag, this one is a flashy custom Wilson A2000 1786 done by Rougned Odor.  Wilson has such a diverse array of color options on their custom leather, and I feel like most of them actually get better with age.  Some dirt and sun really does the leather good.  Create your own A2000 1786 custom here.

Odor’s wearing the Trout 4 in black and white, and we’re still waiting to see a different color than the black and white on anybody other than Trout himself.  Maybe we’ve missed them?  Hit us up if you see them.

Check out Odor’s full profile here.

This is a pretty “meh” glove (Noah Syndergaard) in my opinion but its worth showing because Keez captured the model info for us: PROS12MTKBPRO can be seen on the pinky.  To give you the full breakdown of what that means:

  • “PROS” is usually indicative of a glove with Pro Preferred leather.  For an explanation of Pro Preferred in comparison with Heart of the Hide, see here.
  • “12” means 12 inches
  • “MT” means modified trap (web)
  • “K” means kip leather, and another indicator that this is a Pro Preferred glove.
  • “B” means black.
  • “PRO” seems like something they add for pro orders—sorta dumb in my opinion since its redundant.

Joey Gallo’s 219 strikeouts in 159 MLB games would be good for 3rd all-time (tied with Chris Davis) if it were in a single season.  Still, when he connects with this 34/32 Chandler CU7 Maple bat, he’s got as much power as anybody in baseball.  He leads the American League in at bats per homer (10.0), and they’re not cheapies.  According to HitTrackerOnline.com, Gallo is second in baseball behind Giancarlo Stanton (18) with 14 “No Doubt” home runs.  He’s also 6th in baseball in average HR distance at 416.6 feet per dinger.

Our first look at New Balance’s 4040v4 turfs comes on the feet of Joey Gallo, who has been an NB guy from his first game in the Bigs.  This carbon fiber style is exclusive, but you can shop 13 different colors (with wide sizing, too) at this link.

More of Gallo, a beautiful pair of custom Franklin CFX Pro, which you can customize with these exact specs here.

IMG_8487

Gallo has done a pretty nice job in his transition to 1B, rocking a Rawlings PROFM mitt.  We built one that we believe is identical.  Get it here.

Carlos Gomez’s Air Coops are subtle but pretty sick.  The laces make it all work.

Mr. 3000 Adrian Beltre has loved the Nike Air Huarache Pro cleats for at least 3 seasons.  He’s been wearing them since we first covered him in 2015, with cosmetic changes only.  Here’s 2015, with snakeskin texture:

2016’s version (above) kept the snakeskin but added more color.  These are the best in my opinion.

His latest, a black version with a texture that we can’t really make out, but definitely a marbled look.

You can find the Huarache Pros in abundance on eBay.

Which of Beltre’s cleats is your favorite?
