We finally have our first look and an official name of the cleats Odell Beckham Jr. has been wearing all off-season; The Vapor Beckham. These cleats are a SMU (Special Make-UP), built for OBJ. As of right now, these cleats are exclusive to OBJ and despite being injured, he has already shown us 3 incredible colorways. The 1st pair is a Browns all orange pair and the 2nd and 3rd are some crazy, super colorful colorways. They all seem to have the words “Blah Blah” written all over them in different fonts. The word “Voice” can also be seen on the OBJ logo on the tongue which could indicate a further connection to OBJ’s voice/influence.
From a design perspective, these cleats are different than anything we’ve ever seen on the gridiron. They seem to take inspiration from a wide variety of cleats. They have off-set laces similar to Nike’s soccer cleats, the ankle cuff from the Nike Vapor Edge 360 Pro and they have a brand new, never seen before, traction plate. This traction plate seems to be a one-piece but built similar to the “Edge” plate. These cleats look amazing and hopefully the public will be able to get their hands on them eventually.
