In Week 5, Stefon Diggs wore a pair of Jordan 1 cleats inspired by the Jordan 1 “J-Balvin”. These had a rainbow upper and were some of the craziest cleats we’ve seen hit the gridiron.
When it comes to cleats, Diggs is one of the guys who prefers function over style. When the Jordan Brand team was tasked with creating a lightweight, but stlyish cleat for Diggs, they had their work cut out for them. Most Jordan silhouettes have thicker uppers and feel heavy on the feet. For Diggs, Jordan Brand was forced to start at square one and design a totally new cleat silhouette that would look like a Jordan, but feel like a lightweight skill cleat. For these Jordan 1 PEs and all of his other Jordan cleats, they borrowed the super upper material from the Nike Vapor Edge 360 Speeds. From there, they added super thin overlays to make the cleats look like a Jordan 1. The final product is the best of both worlds – a cleat that looks like a Jordan but performs like a top of the line skill cleat.
