Jose Fernandez

Jose Fernandez was one of the most electrifying young pitchers in baseball. The 2013 NL Rookie of the Year and two-time All Star was taken from us far too soon. Fernandez was known as Niño by his teammates for his joy and youthful energy he brought to the game. He battled back from Tommy John and had all the potential to be an elite pitcher in the Big Leagues. His life was tragically cut short in September of 2016 during a boating accident. His passing rocked the baseball world as the game lost one of the brightest young talents. While his career was short, Fernandez boasts nearly 600 strikeouts and a 2.58 ERA but his impact on the game goes far beyond the numbers. Fernandez will be missed but his legacy lives on through a wave of exciting and talented young ball players who have followed in his foot steps.

Before Jose’s passing, his gear matched his style of play-unique and exciting. Jose Fernandez’s glove is iconic. He used both a Nike SHA DO Elite J and a Wilson A2K in his career. Both boasted an eye-catching all orange color combination. Fernandez also used multiple cleat models and brands in his career. He used Nike 2K Filth cleats before transitioning to Under Armour Yard Mid ST spikes in a custom Marlins colorway.
