Pete Alonso

2016 second rounder Pete Alonso came to the Mets after a studly career with the Florida Gators, where he led his team to the 2016 College World Series and finished as a runner up for the Dick Howser Trophy, given to the best college baseball player in the country.

Alonso continued to mash all the way into 2019 Spring Training, where he busted the door down to the Big Leagues.  His power has earned him the nickname “Polar Bear,” and its already putting him in elite company, and he’s a real challenger for Aaron Judge’s rookie record of 52 homers.

In his brief time in the spotlight, Alonso has swung Dove Tail bats, worn Nike cleats and batting gloves, and you can tell he’s got some good hands with his Wilson glove.
