Pete Alonso won the 2019 Home Run Derby with a Dove Tail PA20 Axe bat made of Birch wood.  Alonso’s axe is based off the “huge” barreled Louisville Slugger D200 (swung in the past by Buster Posey).

The Axe handle continues its ascension at the highest level.  After first showing up at a Big League facility in 2010, the Axe was still obscure when it was swung by Jimmy Rollins briefly in 2012.   The Axe then re-established itself as a Victus DP15 Axe with Dustin Pedroia, and Mookie Betts picked it up shortly after.  Betts won an MVP with it, and an Axe handle by Dove Tail Bats is now the weapon of choice for the Derby champ.

You can get Alonso’s PA20 Signature Series bat for $199.95-$211.95 (flamed barrel) and PA20-ProXRI-m Signature Series bat (ProXR Icon-m knob and the PA20 model profile) for $229.95-$241.95 (flamed barrel). If you want the Haley’s Comet paint job, you can get it for $399.95 (PA20) to 459.95 (PA20 Axe). All of these bats can be found at DoveTailBats.com.

Pete Alonso’s bat size: 34 inch, 32 ounce
