JT Realmuto
JT Realmuto could excel anywhere on the field. He’s a cat behind the plate, leading the league in pop time in 2018 (1.88 seconds from home to second, Big League average is 2.01 seconds) and in the top 4 since BaseballSavant.com has been keeping track.
When you get the ball from your mitt to the base runner’s dome in under 1.9 seconds you are on the razor edge of the catching position. Hard to imagine running on that, and what a confidence boost it must be for a pitcher to know that your catcher throws out half of would-be base-stealers.
And that’s to say nothing of his hitting. Despite squatting a minimum of 125 games per year, Realmuto is one of the team’s best hitters.
Regarded as the best catcher in the league by many, check out JT Realmuto’s catcher’s mitt, catcher’s gear, bat, and other gear below.
