Joc Pederson signed with the San Francisco Giants just two weeks before Opening Day 2022, so it was a scramble to get the gear just right. For his glove, he needed some help just like his cleats and batting gloves. As of early 2022, Joc is wearing the shag glove of his Braves teammate Will Smith—not the catcher or the actor, but the relief pitcher.
Its a PROS601 13” with a firm break-in, Pro Preferred leather and a camel base with Braves-colored accents and “optic yellow” embroidery. The pattern has an extremely flat shape to it compared to the more traditional PRO303, creating an “extra deep, narrow pocket.” My favorite part for whatever reason is the red stamped “Fastback” logo… feels kinda retro.
