Been trying to get an up-close look at this one for a while. The first we saw this kind of glove was at University of Texas, and they certainly looked intriguing. Nike is making a strong effort to make a glove as light as possible but still function at the highest level. They have placed synthetic materials strategically, like along the base of the thumb, where a heavier leather might not be necessary. Meanwhile, they’ve kept traditional Japanese leather where “feel” is important. For Matt Kemp to be using it this late into the season, its not longer an experiment. Kemp trusts this glove to get it done.
Unfortunately, we haven’t heard anything from Nike on these glove—they are unavailable until further notice.
