Two of the best custom cleat artists in the game are dipping their paintbrushes into the glove game, and whether you’re a fan of these specific designs or not, you should be as amped as we are to see it happening. This is the future of baseball swag.
Above is a video of a glove done by Kickasso for O’Dell Beckham, who will play in NY Giant punter Brad Wing’s celebrity softball game on June 20th at Dutchess Stadium in Wappingers Falls, NY. The game will benefit the Ryan McElroy Children’s Cancer Foundation, and you can expect to see some of these items auctioned off. If you’re in the 845, check it out.
I’m at a loss for words on this Iron Man custom by Kickasso. How does one express love without emojis? Kickasso himself will be rocking this one in the softball game.
The attention to detail that comes through in all Kickasso’s work is unmatched.
This one is a prototype, and I’ll be the first to say I won’t be rocking that on-field—way too much. But a prototype is supposed to test the boundaries, so for those who called it “ugly” as soon as they saw it on IG, lay off the haterade and have a little imagination people.
This one from Nomad Customs for Tyson Ross is a little more subtle and likely to see some real Big League action.
Ross’ Nike SHA|DO Elite J Two-Piece looks like its already been broken in, so hopefully Ross gets back from injury ASAP and we can see him with this on the bump in San Diego.
FYI, the relace was done by @glovesbyguasch once the paint dried.
Shameless plug: who can forget bird glove by Nomad Customs for WPW?
With the best artists working on gloves now, the custom lovers of the world (us) have a lot to look forward to as concepts evolve. Footwear as self-expression is centuries old and will always exist, but for ballplayers, gloves are the next frontier. Expect to see this trend more and more… and if you do, tag us.
