MLB Lifts Cleat Restrictions for 2020 Season (Only)

We received a tip from an MLB-affiliated source that Major League Baseball will be lifting cleat restrictions for the 2020 season. That’s good news for WPW, as it’ll essentially be Players Weekend every day.

Here’s the email from the league:

It says that color restrictions have been lifted, cleats can basically have anything other than a non-vetted corporate logo. In other words, players can’t advertise for a random non-MLB-affiliated company.

It also lifts all restrictions that might prohibit “positive messages promoting social justice and social change or support for essential workers” (like these Dexter Fowler customs by @ikb20_customs.

Nice job MLB! Let the games (and the wild cleat styles) begin!
