The Glove Box: Take Care of Your Glove and Your Glove will Take Care of You

BY ANDREW ROBINSON

Last year a teammate of mine approached me with the prototype of a travel box to put your glove in. The idea is to have a place for your glove so it won’t get smashed in your bag and keep its form, a problem many traveling ballplayers know all too well. Having seen similar products like the Glove Guardian from TOI, my first thought was, how is this any different than the others?

First, the Glove Box is customizable. I had them add my nickname “ARob” on the sides of mine in neon green. Other guys put their names or numbers on them. One of the guys even had them add a Jordan logo on the top. It looks awesome. I’ve seen college logos too (like Alex Gordon’s below). They have a ton of examples on their twitter (@gloveboxco).  Customization (your name and number) costs $40 more than a standard Glove Box.

And they didn’t leave anything out when it comes to features. It has places to put your batting gloves, hat, sunglasses, iPad, and whatever else you can fit in there. They designed the velcro iPad mount for recording your swing or throwing mechanics, but I mainly use it to stick on the back of the seat in front of me to watch movies on bus trips. Awesome addition.

As for the main purpose of the Glove Box, it really does keep your glove well protected. Plus, it’s a cool and useful carrying case for your baseball gear when you don’t need your entire bag. Its perfect for me in the offseason when most days all I need is a glove and a ball. Check them out at www.gloveboxco.com!
