George Springer hit his 9th, 10th and 11th career postseason bomb in the Nike Lunar Vapor Ultrafly Elite 2 cleats. These are available via Dick’s for $19-$110.
Springer’s preferred cleat features a fused mesh upper with a synthetic toe cover for extra durability, and what looks like a new anatomical lacing system that runs down the ridge of the foot. Nike has nixed Flywire. The Ultrafly 2 looks almost like a soccer cleat and probably feels like one, too.
The new Ultrafly will again feature a full Lunar midsole for enhanced comfort. The Lunar midsole is responsive and brings you closer to the ground without sacrificing comfort.
The original Lunar Vapor Ultrafly Elite of 2017 won our “BEST OF WPW” award for best cleat, and my personal opinion of it was that it was the best looking cleat I’d ever seen. Though I understand the minimalist approach to this model as Nike’s lightest cleat, the look of these cleats is, in my opinion, a huge step back. Where’s the swag factor? Bland as a saltine cracker. I was immediately disappointed when I saw these on the field back in August, and the new colorways don’t really change my opinion. But who cares what I think. What do you think?
