Gleyber is one of many Big Leaguers wearing the Benik W-137B for hand protection around the basepaths. Head-first sliders will want to consider something like this since you are much more susceptible to a dislocated finger or torn thumb ligament (Mike Trout missed 6 weeks in 2017 with this injury). The Benik W-137B that Gleyber uses is available, but not cheap ($120 on BetterBaseball.com).
Does anybody out there use hand protection on the basepaths? If so, please let us know in the comments what you use.
