Koyie Hill and Tuffy Goeswisch were both recently called up, Hill to the Marlins and Tuffy to the Diamondbacks. For Goeswisch this was his first time in a Major League uniform, and it was a long time coming. The guy spent 9 years in the minors with Philadelphia, Toronto and finally the Diamondbacks organization. I’ve always rooted for Tuffy to make it someday and he finally did. A few days ago he switched from the silver and black you see above to the blackout.
Hill has been quietly earning his Big League paycheck for ten years and has always been a devoted All Star wearer. Currently he wears a blackout set (a departure from his old tri-color set with the Cubs) similar to Tuffy with a few minor tweaks. Instead of the stock CM3000SBT Tuffy has, Hill wears the black All Star CM3000. He also has a leather chin pad as opposed to the stock chin pad, and wears an MVP2500 as opposed to a MVP4000. From now on we shall call this a Koyie Hill.
That adds two to the list of All Star System 7 users but there’s a surprise third and fourth of the past few weeks as well.

Salvador Perez was activated from the 7-day DL on Sunday being cleared from a concussion. He came back sporting a silver and blue MVP4000 instead of the FM25LUC he usually wears. He even wore his hat under it, as most hispanic catchers do with a hockey helmet. Is this a safety precaution because of the concussion or a permanent change? Probably a safety precaution but we’ll keep an eye on it.

Taking his place when Salvy went down was Brett Hayes, yet another new System 7 guy we can add to the list. Except technically, he’s using a Wilson A2000 M1 glove, so that DQ’s him from the All All Star List, but still close. He is on the list for white MVP4000’s though, which I like. It looks like he got a little paint chip on his MVP4000 because of the use down in Omaha, where the colors of the two teams are the same. Hayes likes to look good on the field and I’ll always love his orange and black System 7 with the Marlins and this set too.
So all in all four new catchers to add to the System 7 list. Quite an enjoyable few weeks for me.
That’s a 1791 there’s no finger pad and you can tell as the thumb/finger portion is 2 pieces not one like the m1.
