Josh Donaldson Training with a Mizuno Glove

Josh Donaldson, a long-time Rawlings guy, was photographed by WPW wearing a Mizuno Pro Limited glove today.  As we understand it, Donaldson has left Rawlings for good, and though we can’t yet confirm he’s going to be rocking a Mizuno glove in 2018 game action, it appears Mizuno is at least a candidate.

Donaldson, like other star 3Bs Adrian Beltre and Manny Machado, wore a PRONP5 with Rawlings, and Donaldson was definitely a big fan of Rawlings gloves (he told us).  There are a number of reasons he could have changed, but it probably wasn’t a quality issue.  With that said, Mizuno is as good as anyone, even Rawlings, so this is not a step back in quality, either.

Donaldson’s glove has the same web as Jose Iglesias’ Mizuno, but he may have a bit more length, since he wore an 11 3/4″ with Rawlings.  This glove might be most similar to the Mizuno GMP600, available here in chestnut and here in black.

We also saw a Marucci glove with Donaldson’s name on it.  Our belief is that Mizuno will be the gamer, but we’ll update you when we get more details.

Which glove do you think JD should use?
