Shohei Ohtani

Shohei Ohtani is a rare breed of ball player. Not only does he have lights out stuff on the mound, he can also deposit a ball into the stands 400+ feet away. Ohtani won the 2018 American League Rookie of the Year award after being posted by the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters of the NPB. Ohtani broke into the NPB at 18 years old and has been playing professionally ever since. Ohtani has transitioned well to the MLB but has not completely hit his stride yet. Shohei Ohtani had Tommy John surgery which slow his path to stardom. Ohtani is a unique two-way phenom we are excited to watch for years to come.

Ohtani has brought some Japanese flare with him to the states. Just like Ohtani himself, his gear is pretty unique. Ohtani uses Asics from head to toe. Shohei Ohtani’s glove is a beauty. His red and white Ascis Gold Stage glove is something we are not used to seeing in the US but it sure is eye catching. Ohtani’s cleats and batting gloves follow the same theme with a white a red color combo. Even his bat is an Asics maple bat.
