Pujols’ gear has been updated here.

Just when everyone started believing Pujols might take his talents to South Beach, the Angels swooped in and signed the World Champion first baseman to a record-setting $254 million dollar contract.  Here’s what you can expect to make when you’ve got a .328 career batting average, 445 homeruns, and 1329 RBI at the age of 32.

A breakdown of Albert Pujols’ 10-year guaranteed contract with the Angels, with additional provisions:

Salary
2012: $12 million; 2013: $16 million
2014: $23 million; 2015: $24 million
2016: $25 million; 2017: $26 million
2018: $27 million; 2019: $28 million
2020: $29 million; 2021: $30 million

Personal services agreement
Sides agree that after the expiration of the contract or Pujols’ retirement as a player, they will enter into a 10-year personal services relationship and Pujols will be paid $1 million annually.

Milestone accomplishments
The sides agree they will enter into a separate marketing agreement in which Pujols will be paid for the promotion and marketing of specified milestone accomplishments. Among them are a $3 million payment for 3,000 hits and a $7 million payment for 763 home runs.

Award Bonuses
Most Valuable Player: $500,000
MVP second or third place: $75,000
Gold Glove: $75,000
Silver Slugger: $75,000
All-Star election or selection: $50,000
World Series MVP: $100,000
ALCS MVP: $75,000

Not too bad.  And the LA Angels of Anaheim aren’t the only ones willing to go above-and-beyond for Prince Albert’s services.  Pujols also has Nike wrapped around his fingers (and toes). **Pun intended**  Pujols was seen wearing a few different batting gloves in 2011, the latest two pairs were player exclusive Nikes—or so we thought—we were very excited to find that the Nike Diamond Elite Pro batting gloves with Pujols’ logo in the above picture ARE available!  He’s been wearing them in Spring Training for the Angels as well.  Another pair we’ve seen both with the Cardinals and the Angels are these Nike Show Elite player exclusives (below).  Pujols wore the red logo Diamond Elite Pro batting gloves for home games.  For away games, the three-time MVP wore the same gloves with a blue Nike logo.  Neither of these, unfortunately, are sold retail.

Pujols’ cleats are also Nike.  The Nike Diamond Elite Fly cleats you see in the picture are exclusive to Albert.  There are more gorgeous pictures of these at solecollector.com, a great site to see player exclusive footwear.  Pujols’ exclusives are highly specialized, but you can create your own personalizations at NIKEiD.  During the 2011 World Series, Pujols wore the reds with white Nike logo and white sole for home games, and a blue logo, gray midsole variation for away games.  You can see the blue variations of both Pujols’ batting gloves and cleats in the following clip from his three-home run, 5 hit performance in game 3 of the 2011 World Series.

Affectionately known as “The Machine,” Pujols is another Marucci guy.  He swings a Marucci AP5, which according to Marucci, is “engineered for hitters who are looking for balance and power in their swing.”  When it comes to delivering those promises, Pujols is quite the pitchman.  He is one of the most consistently dominant hitters, both for average and for power, that the game has ever seen.  The Marucci AP5 is available on many different sites.

Pujols is swinging a Sam Bat in this 2005 NLCS Game 5 when a moonshot off Brad Lidge made everyone realize that the nine-time All Star is not only a numbers giant, he is even better in big moments.
