The 4040v4 from New Balance, as we speculated last month, has arrived. Though we didn’t really get a chance to show it off much, it featured prominently on the feet of the All-Star Week’s top performers, including Yadier Molina, Robinson Cano, Miguel Sano, and the ever-fresh Francisco Lindor.
You can see it on both Lindor and Yadi in the above post by Lindor. How does Lindor get his to stay so white? I take a white pair out of the box and I swear they’re dirty the moment I breathe on them. Does Lindor float? Does he have a shoe force field? How’s that even work?
Here’s a different style of whites than what we saw on Lindor, with a mesh upper, and a special colorway for the All-Star Game. Get these here.
He may have a special plate, but there is a version that looks more like what he wore, and its got a synthetic upper rather than the mesh upper you see above:
For some reason this one just looks a little more fire to me, though I’m not sure the performance subtleties with mesh vs synthetic. Get this one here.
4040v4 in Blue with two-tone mesh on NewBalance.com.
I like the solid color mesh over the two-tone like this one in red. Shop it here. (Its also offered just like this with blue in place of red)
Eastbay offers a whopping 27 styles of the 4040v4 cleats, including this Pedroia model with Arctic Camo which is necessary when you play in Boston every October.
This is the inside of that same cleat. Though I don’t love the other colors with mesh, I’m a fan of the black/white mesh combo. Shop it here.
Top view shows a very sneaker-like fit and a plush-looking ankle and tongue. A deviation from the trend of booty-style ankle support. Looks comfy AF.
The plate looks similar to its predecessors, and this is where, in my opinion, New Balance sets themselves apart. The way NB engineers have figured out how to allow flexibility and reduce weight is second to none. This is why every NB guy can’t stop gushing about how comfortable the cleats are.
In addition to the cleat, Francisco Lindor also rocked this new 4040 lifestyle shoe in pre-game. You can get the exact shoe worn by Lindor at this link.
And last but certainly not least, the 4040v4 turf!
These things are absolute heat. The fact that they actually have the pro-style turf bottom is long overdue. We see it all over the MLB and now New Balance is offering it to us. Shop the 4040v4 turf here.
