Bryce Harper’s first signature cleat, the Harper One, is officially unveiled today as Bryce takes the field in Washington.
Bryce will wear the “Harper One” MVP ST LE in Black/Metallic Gold, the first color way from the line available to consumers on July 15 at UA.com, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Eastbay.
UA gave us a little break-down of the technology in these stunners:
- One-Piece Woven Upper: Woven performance upper is lightweight and fits and feels like a sneaker
- Internal Fit Sleeve: Delivers customized fit and lightweight, breathable comfort
- Built-in Stability Strap: Locks you in with powerful stability and support
- 9-Spike TPU Plate: Aggressive traction meets total mobility
- Charged Cushioning®: Converts impact into explosive speed and power on the diamond
Notice the “220” inscription on the inside tongue (220 equates to “Second to None,” a saying Bryce has on a bracelet he’s worn from his father since he was young).
Another interesting note is that these are not the front/back hybrids that we’ve seen Bryce wear before. These are straight-up metals, which will be available in time for the All-Star Game this year.
And here’s a look at Bryce’s Instagram post (which he tagged @whatproswear in, which we are feeling pretty damn good about):
You’ll notice that the retail version of the Harper One cleat has UA’s “Charged” foam, which is borrowed from the best basketball player in the world, Stephen Curry. Learn more about Charged foam from our footwear expert, Ben Stockton. Bryce’s plate is exclusive to Bryce; the Spine hybrid that Bryce invented with Under Armour, which he’s worn for several seasons. He seems to love the front metals for cutting and molded back cleats for comfort.
These things are gorgeous. With guys like Harper, Trout, and Correa all getting signature cleats, its a really exciting time for baseball and WPW. Expect baseball equipment in general to improve as competition increases and great companies like UA are pushed to be the best that they can be.
