After 7 years with Under Armour, Steph Curry has been granted his own brand. Much like Michael Jordan and the Jordan Brand, this is still below the Under Armour umbrella, but will only feature Steph’s new Curry Brand logo:
This combines the SC branding in a new way, with 3 dashes for his preferred point-shot and shot celebration:
Steph even has his own website now with currybrand.com, where his future merchandise and sneakers would drop.
The first sneaker to drop adorned with this logo will be the Curry Flow 8, a sneaker Under Armour say is the most technologically advanced in the entire line.
The Flow 8 marks the debut of new cushioning in UA Flow, tech that took more than three years to develop. UA Flow removes the traditional outsole, with traction carved right onto the cushioning. This allowed the Under Armour team to add structure around the soft foam, while adding traction to high wear areas.
This traction is said to grip the court better, with no skidding, slipping or squeaking. This allows Steph to stop on a dime to catch defenders off guard.
An outsole typically adds up to 2 oz. of weight to a shoe, so forgoing this helps shed weight. All while not sacrificing the high energy return and shock absorption promised by UA.
The Curry Flow 8 will drop globally on currybrand.com and basketball retailers for $160. Expect the black and white colorway seen above to drop on December 11.
