After photographing Brian McCann’s Under Armour glove at a game back in May, we came across some very intriguing images of some Under Armour catcher’s mitts. We asked around and were told that they could release in 2017. We were wrong, at least partially, as a couple of them showed up recently at Dick’s Sporting Goods.
The two models available, an adult and youth version of what UA calls the “Framer” series, are affordable options ($99.99 and $79.99) that will likely be just about game-ready right off the shelf. The WPW reader who alerted us to these, @njsbertoli28, said the mitt “doesn’t feel very Pro Stock like, more like a Rawlings Gold Glove.” He went on to say that he was “intrigued” but didn’t buy it, and that it was “very comfortable” to wear. He was nice enough to upload a video of the 33.5″ adult version for us to share:
As far as “What Pros Wear,” you will not be seeing this version on a pro diamond because the leather would not be able to handle that type of cheese, but it might be a good option for lower velocities/budgets.
