The WBC starts March 6 and we are more excited than ever for this tournament. @nikebaseball got us even more excited when 4 WBC customs showed up on WPW’s doorstep yesterday. Players from Puerto Rico, USA, Venezuela, and Dominican Republic will wear Nike Air Clipper customs cleat for the occasion, and we got you a great look at each of them.
The new Air Clipper is a classy cleat and will undoubtedly be one of the most popular cleats on any baseball field this season.
USA
Look for these on Sonny Gray, Nolan Arenado, Brandon Crawford and others repping USA for Nike. Sucks to see a pretty thin starting rotation but I’d put the Arenado/Posey/D. Murphy/Stanton/Goldschmidt middle of the order up against anyone in the world.
Dominican Republic
The defending champions might have the sexiest cleat on the field as they defend their title. Look for these on Johnny Cueto, Adrian Beltre, and Nelson Cruz among an absolute juggernaut of a team that, whether they repeat or not, will have more fun than any other team.
Venezuela
Cargo, Rougned Odor, and Alcides Escobar will lead Nike on the field with these beauties. The Venezuelan colors can be a little crazy when that blue gets involved but Nike’s been doing this for a while and they know how to make a team look good.
Puerto Rico
Javy Baez is known to wear a new cleat (or basketball shoe) almost every game but even he might settle into these beauties. Kinda makes me wish the USA ones looked like this.
