Jimmy Rollins, already a 3-time Gold Glover, signed a three-year deal with Mizuno at the start of the 2012 season, taking his Nike leather out of service. When asked why he made the switch, Rollins admitted it was dollar signs, “It was a business decision. We talked to Nike but weren’t seeing eye to eye.” Rollins has mentioned that he wore Mizuno in high school and “always liked it.” (Check out that link for a couple of other interesting facts from Jimmy about the glove)
Despite it being a business and not performance decision, the switch didn’t hurt his results as Rollins won his fourth Gold Glove, and first since the Phillies’ 2009 NL pennant-winning season. The glove model is the same as Ian Desmond‘s, the GMP61BK, and is available scarcely online.
Here’s J-Roll talking Mizuno:
Rollins wears the Nike Show-X2 sunglasses that you see in the feature, though we’ve seen him with a few different colorways and lenses.
And here’s Jimmy with a patriotic pair at the WBC:
Rollins colorway/lense combinations don’t look like they’re available online, but there are many similar styles to choose from.
Rollins also wears one of the cooler custom wristbands we’ve seen, seen in the feature, with his nickname “J-Roll” and the Jumpman logo. He wears red at home and grey (below) on the road.
