Save the immortals, Josh Donaldson is having as good a season as any third baseman in the Bigs. A complete unknown before the season started, Donaldson is carrying the first place A’s with his bat as well as his glove.
And Donaldson’s play isn’t the only thing being slept on. Donaldson is cut from the same cloth as the swagger-stacked A’s lineups of the early 2000s (see Chavez, Menechino, Giambi, Dye, Justice), straight dominating the tapered pants-down, white cleats look.
Those are the guys that really originated that look, kind of like the Fab Five of long shorts and black socks. For my money, its the best look in baseball and I still rock it to this day because of that squad, and Donaldson looks to be a fine torchbearer for the signature Oakland look.
Old Hickory Pro Maple JL18 in Black (34.5 inch/32.5 oz)
Old Hick tells us that Josh Donaldson swings a JL18, which according to their site, is cut to the I13 profile and “features a long, large barrel that tapers into a medium handle with a large flared knob.” This is the Louisville swung by fellow slugging 3B Evan Longoria, and is available at that link.
Nike Diamond Elite Pro II in Green/White
As you can see in the photo above, Donaldson is wearing the popular Nike Diamond Elite II’s, in a color that is available online at the link above.
Donaldson earned the “A” on his cap with this footwear selection. These white MVP Elites are some of my favorite NIKEiDs, available at the link above (click the color for his exact specs).
THAT is how you pimp a home run.
Elbow and Calf Guard
Evoshield Elbow Guard in Green and Black
A good shot of these two is in the feature photo. Unfortunately, we didn’t find any green version of the elbow guard, so that one must be an exclusive. I find it a little odd that he wouldn’t go with a green one for his leg, too. The guard is available in a bunch of different colors, including the black—just not the green.
