And that’s how you become the Mayor of San Francisco. Pablo Sandoval set the Bay on fire with three swings of his Marucci CB15 low-density maple bat in Game 1, effectively knocking the Tigers on their butts and blowing up Joe Buck and Tim McCarver’s plans to deify Justin Verlander for nine full innings. (I don’t usually complain about announcers because people are just way too hard on that role in general—but those two went into that game Wednesday as if the script had already been written. Even when Verlander was clearly getting smacked around they continued to heap compliments on him. When Zito got his Punch and Judy RBI-single, I thought McCarver was going to keel over in the booth. Alas, he kept talking.) Kung Fu Panda’s Marucci CB15 LDM, which is available online, was sent to the Hall of Fame in recognition of Sandoval’s historic night. With his three-homer World Series game, Pablo joined immortals Babe Ruth, Reggie Jackson, and Albert Pujols as the only men to accomplish such an extraordinary feat.
Thanks to some help from WPW reader Geoff and some research on our part, we know that Sandoval wore a discontinued version of the Yard batting glove for Games 1 and 2. Here’s a shot of them below:
However, quirky as he is, Pablo’s batting glove choice changes frequently and doesn’t really follow a home/away pattern. So we’re just going to show a few shots of his different choices, starting with an available version of the Yard VI batting gloves in white/orange that he wore in Game 2 of the NLCS:
Here’s a set of Yard VI’s in grey/orange from Game 4 of the NLCS:
These greys are unavailable. Panda’s shoe selection is no different, styles changing from day to day. For his three homer game, Sandoval wore the Under Armour Yard III cleats in black/orange/white, an exclusive version. Here’s a decent look at them (also see the improvised elbow guard by Evoshield that Pablo is wearing on his front foot—thanks to a few WPW readers for that tip):
Below you’ll see Pablo in game 4 of the NLCS wearing the Under Armour Leadoff IV molded cleats in grey/black/orange/white, an exclusive version as well:
And here’s Pablo wearing a brand new Under Armour style in Game 5 of the NLDS, the Yard Low ST, in a colorway that is available online:
These are available in many other colorways online as well. And finally, here’s a sick exclusive version of the Yard III in white, which are also exclusive to Panda:
In a few of the photos above, you can see that Pablo also wears the Pro Hitter on his thumb, which as we know, is available online. Pablo also wears a Bike brand guard over his right calf to prevent any further self-inflicted wounds from foul balls. This guard isn’t available anywhere that we could find. If you do see something, SAY SOMETHING!
