Pablo Sandoval’s “shapeliness” is a running joke in San Francisco. Though it’s well-documented that Panda doesn’t miss a meal, and he’s nicknamed after a fluffy bear known mainly for eating, Pablo might surprise you at third base. He’s a tremendous athlete—no two-time All Star and .303 hitter isn’t—possessing great hands and a plus arm. The sum of those parts equal a guy who finished first in the NL in “Range Factor” in 2012. No chance I look it up, but I’d assume that means the guy’s got range. He makes some spectacular plays and, just like the rest of the Giants’ defense, kept some high-leverage runs off the board on his way to two World Series rings.
The first three minutes of this one are all defensive gems:
Was listening to this jam while I wrote this and I guess I copied it in by mistake. Your gain.
Pablo wears a custom SSK glove similar to the one in the feature. His 2012 version is the one below, with a black palm, orange web, and an array of Giants colors on the back.
Though you can get a custom glove from SSK using their builder, you can’t have it quite so customized as Pablo’s using that tool. The other disappointing thing is that Pablo’s is a single-post, nowhere to be found on their custom builder. The closest you could probably get is what the call the “Double H-web,” the I-web or the “Star IV-T.”
Sandoval has worn a couple different pairs of sunglasses most recently, both custom versions of the Oakley Radar. The pair in the feature, as bad ass as they are, seems to have exclusive orange ear socks that aren’t available to us. However, the remaining specs are as follows:
- Lens Shape: Pitch
- Frame: Carbon Fiber Print
- Lens: Fire Iridium Pitch
- Icon: Polished Chrome
And a second pair seen here on September 27th:
- Lens Shape: Path
- Frame: White Chrome
- Lens: Fire Iridium Path
- Icon: Matte Black
Here are the links:
