What Pros Wear Update: Chase Utley (Bat, Batting Gloves, Cleats)

chase utley bat, chase utley batting gloves, chase utley cleats, adidas excelsior pro, franklin pro classic, marucci cu26, chase utley marucci

Like his flawless swing, Utley stayed consistent with his hitting repertoire since last year, remaining brand loyal, just switching out his adizero Diamond Kings for a new model adidas.

You mostly need to watch this video for his 2009 World Series performance, but you can also see the consistency in his gear choices from year to year.

Bat

Marucci Maple CU7, a variation of the CU26 in Black

As you can see in the feature, Utley has been swinging a CU7, one of the 17(!) variations, according to Marucci, that Chase has with them.  This is the same bat used by Bryce Harper.  The CU26 is available.

Batting Gloves

Franklin Pro Classic in Red/White and Pearl/White

We’re all well aware that the Pro Classics, the flagship batting glove of the Franklin brand, are discontinued, though Chase has been using them for years.  He wears the red/white (below) on the road and the pearl/white at home.  Though the Pro Classics aren’t available, Franklin makes a similar Neo Classic II as well as other styles worn by Josh Hamilton, Hanley Ramirez, Miguel Cabrera, and others.

Utley’s one of the only adidas guys we’ve featured on WPW, the other being Justin Upton, who also wears the Excelsior Pro in a player exclusive colorway.  The cleats are really lacking in available colors, but they are available at the link above.
