This 2012 NLCS features the two best all-around catchers in the game in Buster Posey and Yadier Molina. For the Cards, Molina has been their rock at backstop for eight full seasons, catching the final out for two World Series champions (’06, ’11), winning four Fielding Bible awards (2007-2010) and four Gold Gloves (2008-2011) in the process. Molina is the active leader in Caught Stealing % for his career, finishing in the top 3 in the NL in that stat every year except 2011. With what seems like hereditary exceptional receiving skills, the youngest Molina brother has also made a lot of average pitchers look much better than average (see Edwin Jackson, Brad Penny, Jake Westbrook, Joel Pineiro, and the list goes on).
And based on these riveting performances, the next stop after St. Louis might be Hollywood…
Yadi wears a Rawlings Heart of the Hide PROSCM41JB catcher’s mitt with a Pro Mesh back, just like in the feature (and below). This glove is available online.
Yadier’s mask is a custom All Star brand mask—the model is the MVP2300 (below). This mask is custom painted for Yadier, but the model is available online. Yadi wears his Cards cap to the back underneath the mask, too.
As you can see in the photo above, Molina wears a Rawlings chest protector. The model is the 950X, and Yadi wears a red/navy version at home (above) and the reverse version on the road (below). This chest protector is available online, but not in Molina’s exclusive colors. Molina’s is made of leather, which is custom for him as well.
Not only do you get a good look at the away chest protector Yadi wears, but you can also get a good look at his shin guards in the above picture. Molina wears the Rawlings XRDLG shin guards in navy/red for away games and red/navy for home games, matching his chest protector. These shin guards are available online, just not in his colors.
