The sneaker Carmelo Anthony wore in his first full-season with the New York Knicks was the Jordan Melo M8.
The upper consisted of Flywire and Hyperfuse for a close fit. Patent leather on the toe adds a glossy look reminiscent of the Air Jordan 11. The Melo M8 utilizes heel encapsulated Air for impact protection and forefoot Zoom Air for responsiveness.
Carmelo and the Jordan Brand unveiled the shoe on October 12, 2011 in New York. This was a bit awkward as there was a lockout in the NBA, with no foreseeable games in the future. Melo debuted the shoes days earlier in the South Florida All Star Classic, a charity event held by LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. Anthony would rock the Melo M8 throughout the lockout shortened 2011-12 season and the London 2012 Summer Olympics.
In the gold medal game, Carmelo debuted the Melo M8 Advance. This is a stripped down version of the original, with more breathable Hyperfuse used on the upper. The M8 Advance was his go-to shoe for the early part of the Knicks 2012-13 season as well.
