Following the on-court and off-court success of the Kobe 4, Eric Avar and Kobe Bryant unveiled the Nike Zoom Kobe 5 in December of 2009. The fifth Kobe Bryant signature shoe shared a lot in common with its predecessor, as Flywire-infused Hyperfuse and Zoom Air units in the heel and forefoot gave both a shoes a similar look and feel. Avar did reduce the height of the shoe, going even lower in the collar than the Kobe 4. The goal of going lower and lighter was accomplished once again in this change. These points were highlighted in the Kobe V Puppet commercial:

Kobe and the Lakers had another successful year in the 2009-10 season, once again leading the Lakers at the top of the Western Conference standings. The Lakers rolled past the competition on their way to a rematch with the rival Boston Celtics. While rocking the gold colored “Big Stage” colorways of the Kobe 5, the Black Mamba finally vanquished the demons by beating the Celtics in 7 games to capture his fifth (and final) NBA championship.

You can find the Nike Zoom Kobe 5 at StockX, GOAT, Stadium Goods, and Flight Club.
