Trae Young Signs Multi-year adidas Deal with Signature Shoe Coming in 2021

Trae Young made the jump in the 2019-20 season and looks to have iced a new contract with adidas.

Technically, this is an extension with the three stripes, as Young had signed a multi-year deal right before the 2018 NBA Draft. Financial terms have not been disclosed on the upcoming deal. You can assume he got a full bag though with Trae’s signature shoe coming in late 2021.

Young broke the news himself on Twitter, with his signature logo and sneaker name unveiled for the adidas Trae Young 1.

Typically, signature sneakers take about two years to go to market, so it’s interesting that Young’s sneaker will come so soon.

The Atlanta Hawks star had a fantastic 2nd season, averaging the 4th most regular-season points at 29.6 a game. His sneaker of choice last season was the adidas N3XT L3V3L 2, with early on-feet appearances from the original, laceless N3XT L3V3L.

Trae joins other adidas athletes in James Harden, Damian Lillard, Derrick Rose, and Donovan Mitchell all having signature basketball shoes.

Can we expect some “Icy” colorways to come, like the Icee customs he rocked last season? We’ll find out in the year to come.
