Ken Link returned once again to design the Kobe line, crafting the Nike Zoom Kobe 2 for his 2006-07 season. The shoe came in three versions: sheath, strength, and lite. The sheath version featured an ankle strap that Kobe loved on the Huarache 2K4. The strength version added more support with a large strap on top of the midfoot, while the lite version removed all straps from the other two iterations.
The Black Mamba didn’t seem to enjoy the Kobe 2, as he preferred to go back to the Huarache 2K4 for most of the season. Kobe did wear the Kobe 2 while bringing the prestige back to international hoops after Team USA started losing in previous FIBA and Olympic tournaments. He notably rocked the Kobe 2 in the FIBA championship game, bringing home the gold in his second signature sneaker.
You can find the Nike Zoom Kobe 2 at StockX, GOAT, Stadium Goods, and Flight Club.
