The date was April 13, 2016 and everybody’s eyes were on Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers. It was the last game ever for the Black Mamba and many of his fans growing up were rocking his Kobe 11, including NBA players like Paul George.
The Eric Avar designed shoe took aspects from previous Kobe styles and improved on them – with reinforced Flyknit and a drop-in Lunarlon midsole with an embedded full-length Zoom Air unit. Nike Basketball also was celebrating Kobe’s illustrious career by re-releasing his past swoosh products in tonal colors that “faded to black” from the white Huarache 2K4 and Kobe 1, all the way to the black and gold Kobe 11.
Paul George didn’t play much on this day in April but made sure to rock that “Fade to Black” Nike Kobe 11 Elite (seen above) to pay tribute to one of his childhood idols.
You can find the Nike Kobe 11 at StockX, GOAT, Stadium Goods, and Flight Club.
