Adidas Baseball gets a Boost in their spring 2015 line up with the new Energy Boost Icon. Taking technology from their running shoe line, the Energy Boost Icon will feature adidas’ proprietary foam cushioning for the first time in baseball. The upper of the cleat features lightweight nubuck with shock web ventilation for breathability. Underneath, adidas looks to transition to a new 7 spike (5×2 configuration) with the Icon with an emphasis on comfort and speed.
Also an upgrade will be the adizero After Burner. This model is a heel-to-toe upper update of the adizero 5-tool 2.0 on an existing 8 cleat configuration outsole. The no sew upper provides clean lines with ventilation for lightweight performance.
Look for these adidas cleats to debuted on-field later this season with adidas ambassadors BJ Upton and Justin Upton. Brands tend to transition players into newer models around the All Star break. Watch for the new cleats from adidas to drop this fall at select retailers.
Here’s a quick look at their new custom option coming in August as well, the PowerAlley 2. At this point, they offer the Excelsior at miteam.com, but look for these later in the season.
