LeBron James took his talents to Tinseltown in the summer of 2018, which meant some of the colorways for the King would come to match the Lakers uniforms. This includes the pictured purple “King” LeBron 16, as well as a “MPLS” throwback version that closely matches the blue and yellow from the Minneapolis Lakers.
As for the shoe itself, the Nike LeBron 16 carried over many of the elements that made the LeBron 15 so successful. The BattleKnit upper returned with a new wave pattern, providing the same soft yet durable feel against your foot. The bouncy articulated Zoom Air bags on the sole also returned, with the subtle improvement of outriggers being added to the sole to avoid tipping over.
Another aspect that carried over was the #LeBronWatch program that paid homage to James’ sports idols and past colorways in Nike’s history. This includes the “Medicine Ball” version made to look like retro Bo Jackson trainers, as well as the coveted “Watch The Thrones” colorway that closely matched the friends and family LeBron 9 created for Jay-Z and Kanye West’s collab album.
You can find the Nike LeBron 16 at StockX, Flight Club, Stadium Goods, and DicksSportingGoods.com.
