Early in Paul George’s career, the small forward seemed to love rocking his favorite players’ signature sneakers. He evidently loved Kobe Bryant’s kicks, but also had an aversion for Penny Hardaway’s retro shoes. Back in 2012, Nike Sportswear extended the previously defunct lines of Scottie Pippen and Penny with new sneakers, including the Penny 5. This was almost 14 years after the Penny 4 launched.
While technically a lifestyle shoe, the Penny 5 does feature a large heel Air Max 180 unit that was a performance high-point in the early 2000s.George made sure to sneaker in a few wears of the Penny 5 shoe in the 2012 preseason, rocking the Orlando Magic colorway.
You can find the Nike Penny 5 at StockX, GOAT, Flight Club, and Stadium Goods.
