As a noted Kobe Bryant fan growing up in Southern California, Paul George wore a number of the black mamba’s signature sneakers in his career, including the Nike Kobe 7 across two of his seasons in 2012 with the Indiana Pacers.
Nike designer Eric Avar designed the Nike Zoom Kobe 7, with two customizable midsole options dubbed “attack fast” and “attack strong”. The fast option matched the low-cut set-up on the aforementioned Kobe 4-6 with Zoom Air units in the heel and forefoot of the midsole. The strong option was more eye-catching, with a stretchable ankle sleeve being built on top of the Cushlon, more-durable midsole.
PG chose to attack fast with the low-top insert for the regular season. He also wore the Kobe 7 Elite prominently in the 2012 NBA Playoffs, which upgraded the durability with carbon fiber additions to the heel counter, and rugged scales last seen on the Kobe 6. This postseason saw George facing LeBron James for the first of many playoff games against the King.
You can find the Nike Kobe 7 at StockX, GOAT, Stadium Goods, and Flight Club.
