Late in his sophomore season, Russell Westbrook began rocking more styles from other signature athletes. This includes the Nike Kobe 4 that dropped the year prior.
The Nike Kobe 4 originally released for the Black Mamba’s 2008-09 season and was revolutionary for it’s low-cut design. This was a direct request from Kobe Bryant, who saw how soccer players played faster with a lower-cut boot. This playing style seems to match Russ more so than Kobe, with the Brody’s constant rim running looking like a blur on the court.
The Kobe 4 was later released as a “protro” version in 2019, which slimming down the heel shape and increasing the range of the traction.
You can find the Nike Kobe 4 at StockX, Flight Club, and Stadium Goods.
