During the 2008-09 season, Russell Westbrook wore a new sneaker with a familiar style to basketball fans.

The Nike Zoom Flight Club took great inspirations from the Nike Air Zoom Flight, also known as Gary Payton’s “The Glove” sneaker. This shoe was a part of the Nike Refresh series and also took inspirations from classic models like the Flight ’89 and the Hyperflight. While the 90s inspirations meant the shoe was bulky, the Zoom Air unit in the heel and the form-fitting upper is more guard-friendly than the Power Max.

Russell would go on to rock this all three of these on-court sneakers into the 09-10 season, with highlights and decent stats (15.3 points per game during 2008-09) but with limited team success with 23 wins.

You can find the Nike Zoom Flight Club (coincidentally) at Flight Club.
