After being unhappy with his Puma contract, Vince Carter started rocking shoes from Nike, AND1, and adidas. This after the Toronto Raptor guard’s agent forced their way out of the 10-year sneaker deal. One of VC’s kicks bearing the three stripes was the adidas KB8 III (now renamed the adidas EQT Responsive).
Kobe Bryant and Vince Carter rocked this team shoe during the 1999-2000 season. The KB8 III was part of adidas’ “Feet You Wear” initiative, which featured outsoles made to mimic the shape of the human foot. Elements of the adidas KB8 III would later resurface as the retro “chunky” dad shoe look was back in fashion in 2017. Kanye West even adapted the sole of the EQT Responsive for his Yeezy 500 sneaker.
The adidas KB8 III is currently unavailable at retailers.
