Without much hype in his first, Giannis Antetokounmpo didn’t have the flashy kicks of the top stars in the league. Not only did Giannis wear team shoes, he was still rocking the 2010 Nike Hyperfuse model for the 2013-14 season. This model was a game-changer for the industry, forgoing the leathers of past performance sneakers for synthetic uppers that provided more durability and breathability. At the same time, this model was at least 3 years old when Giannis wore them on the court. The Greek Freak does appear to get attached to shoes, as he typically only wears 2-3 shoes a season, even if the shoes look destroyed.
Giannis didn’t have too many highlights during rookie season, although he did showcase flashes of the freakish athleticism that would define his career.
Giannis only averaged 6.8 points in 24 minutes for his rookie season, but the flashes of superstardom were evident.
