Giannis Antetokounmpo’s second signature shoe was unveiled in July 2020, just weeks before the NBA restart.
Much of the shoe was made to take advantage of Giannis’ moves and explosiveness. The outsole is decoupled with different forms of traction on the heel and forefoot. The wider traction in the heel is more firm to withstand all the impact from landing. In contrast the forefoot traction is tighter to better grip. This combines with the reinforced lateral outrigger, a frequent landing spot for Giannis as he gathers. Above this outrigger is a flex point near the point of the large swoosh to help the shoe fluidly move with the wearer’s foot.
The cushioning improved from the original Freak 1, with a softer foam in the heel and Zoom Air in the forefoot for added responsiveness.
