When the 2017 NBA Summer League rolled around, Lonzo debuted his signature Big Baller Brand ZO2 Prime. People on Twitter instantly roasted the shoe that had a price tag ranging from $495 to $1195 for an autographed pair. The negative reception from the May 2017 unveiling also stemmed from the copycat look of the shoe. Critics pointed to the midsole’s striking resemblance to adidas Boost. Many others also noted the shape resembling the Nike Kobe 8.

Despite the widespread negativity, Lonzo wore the shoes in his first Summer League game… While going 1-11 from the field. Ball bounced back with a triple-double in game two of his unofficial career, dropping 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists.

Despite this success, Lonzo would switch shoes before game 3, opting for Kobe sneakers over his BBB ZO2 Prime. Ball would never rock the shoe again, as Zo would later mention the shoes falling apart after a few quarters of wear. The shoe was eventually scrapped and replaced by the BBB ZO2 Prime Remix.
