Despite landing in the NBA the season after Kobe Bryant retired, Lonzo Ball has always been a mamba sneaker fan. This includes rocking the Nike Kobe 9 on-court.
The Black Mamba rocked the high-top Flyknit version of the love-it-or-hate-it sneaker, whereas Ball liked the low-top in Flyknit and Engineered Mesh uppers. While not as premium feeling, the mesh version was still lightweight and a bit more breathable. A drop-in Lunarlon midsole provides a responsive and low-profile cushioning set-up. A pressure-mapped rubber outsole outsole provides traction in the shape of the contours of the human foot.
Lonzo notably paid tribute to Kobe after his passing, wearing the University Red colorway with “RIP Kobe” written on the heel.
