After flirting with other branded sneakers while forgoing his ZO2 Prime, Lonzo flat out told a reporter that he would be wearing the Jordan 31 in a Summer League semifinal game. This was an audition of sort, with Lavar saying at the time that a sneaker brand could acquire Lonzo’s services if “the price was right.”
The shoe utilizes FlightSpeed with full-length Zoom Air for extra bounce. The upper of the XXXI showcases the old-school with the new, with a synthetic leather used on the heel to mimic the heel on the Jordan 1. The heel makes an interesting transition to the midfoot and toe, featuring newer tech in the Flyweave upper that is soft, yet durable.
Zo ended up with a double-double in the Jordan 31, all while competing against Dennis Smith Jr. for Summer League supremacy. Lonzo finished his summer ball rocking almost every sneaker brand, eventually winning the Summer League MVP award.
