One of the sneakers most synonymous with Vince Carter is the Nike Shox BB4. Not only is Carter ending his career in the sneaker, he also unleashed one of the best dunks ever rocking the Shox BB4 (see: Vince Carter’s moments.)

The eye-catching Shox technology was supposed to be the successor to Nike Air and was 16-years in the making. Countless hours of testing resulted in the Shox in 2000 with the basketball introduction helmed by Vince Carter and the BB4. The “4” in the name represented the four pillars used in the heel, providing visual shock absorption to the wearer. A TPU plate above the pillars acted as stabilizer for the foam pillars, with varying density foam used to create a bouncy sensation. This was famously used in the series of “boing” ads led by Vinsanity himself for the Shox BB4.

For perspective, VC first wore the Shox BB4 in the year 2000, and permanently brought back the shoes in 2018.

You can find the Nike Shox BB4 at StockX, GOAT, and Flight Club.
