After a year of development, the adidas Harden Vol. 1 was officially unveiled in October of 2016. The shoe was tailor-made for Harden, with the unique traction pattern being created in a unique way. The company had Harden practice in sample shoes with dots on the sole to reveal the areas with the most wear, while featuring more grip in these areas. The toe cap is actually independent of the rest of the shoe, which helps un-restrict the foot needed for Harden’s quick movements.
James Harden wore the shoes past the 2016-17 season and has worn the Vol. 1 past 2018, wearing the shoe during the first ever 60-point triple double.
