Kevin Durant’s 12th signature shoe saw new innovation in the way shoes are made. Sneakers typically feature a strobel, a thin piece of material that is sewn between the upper and sole to help shape the shoe. Longtime lead designer Leo Chang decided to mix things up by sewing a full-length Zoom Air bag in place of the strobel, allowing KD and players around the world to more closely experience the bouncy cushioning system.
There were plans for Durant to team with Don C on collaboration colorways of the KD 12. This would prove to be short-lived however, as KD injured his calf and later his achilles in the 2019 NBA Finals, cutting his time in the KD 12 short.
